Leading with Mindfulness

It is very important in today’s unprecedented times to lead with empathy and mindfulness. Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. Mindfulness is being mentally present; not distracted or preoccupied. A lot of our teams and families are having a hard time being present because they are carrying the weight of uncertainty. The uncertainty of whether there will ever be an end to the pandemic or injustice, will the economy and employment opportunities rebound or will there be restoration of hugs, handshakes and office life, or will they ever see their children enjoying spending time at school and playing outdoors with friends or simply whether their lives will ever be the same. It is times such as these that we should be mindful of our own wellness needs, and be emphatic to the needs of those we lead and those around us.

Emotional Intelligence

For Mindfulness Sake was invited by Texas Southern University National Alumni Association and the Jesse H. Jones School of Business Alumni Chapter to speak to alumni and members of the business community.  These unprecedented times have made it difficult for many to positively manage their emotions and outlook. It was a pleasure and a sincere delight to offer words of inspiration to fellow Tigers!

Exuding confidence & optimism in uncertain times

For Mindfulness Sake was honored to co-speak to a group of prestigious female leaders representing the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. A law enforcement background and tenure as an executive in risk, safety and security afforded the opportunity to eloquently and passionately speak about exuding confidence and remaining optimistic for the future, yet real about the struggle during these uncertain times. An additional topic of discussion was the importance of maintaining our self-care or personal wellness at all times. The message was well received.

Women Taking the Lead is a program convening and connecting high level women leaders in government and business. Women Taking the Lead presented by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. They are creating moments for women leading in business and government to celebrate our accomplishments and expand and strengthen our networks to help us grow further and faster.

Forced Presence!

As most of the world is under “lock down” or “stay-at-home” orders to prevent further spread of COVID-19, I’ve seen a lot of meme’s lately. One that caught my eye was, “I guess God got so mad about all of our fighting down here that he sent us all to our rooms”. For Humor Sake, I thought it would be nice to place a little more emphasis on this meme. I wouldn’t say God is mad at us, but more like he’s forcing many of us to be still, seek him, hear him, think, focus on the simple things and the people we often take for granted and to trust him alone. You know what he is challenging you to do and/or change! He’s watching!
